Trees are living organisms that can take in diseases. It is important to understand that a tree’s vital organs are just beneath the bark.
The Phloem Layer and the Cambium Layer in particular are very thin layers that move water and nutrients throughout the tree. Large wounds beneath the bark can disrupt the tree’s lifeline.
When you see dead bark remove it before bacteria established a foothold into the tree’s bloodstream.
